every bed i've ever slept in
Every Bed I've Ever Slept In is a fragmented autobiography told through the lens of a single object: the bed. The series consists of a list of the 181 addresses where the artist has slept, each represented with a video of the artist making the bed paired with a vignette that explores the physical, emotional, subconscious and spatial influence of that particular bed. While the labor of making each bed is mundane in an individual video, through multi-channel installation it becomes overwhelming. Every Bed I've Ever Slept In was born out of research into Sei Shonangon's Pillow Book, a diary she kept of her lovers in a drawer in a wooden pillow.
